I Fund?
Looks like not a lot of people are IFTing to I fund. Any particular reason? Thanks

Re: I Fund?
Here's the relevant info from Aitrus' seasonal thread:
TSPCenter.com’s Seasonal Mix: Move to the G Fund.
Jahbulon’s Basic Seasonal Mix: Remain in the S Fund.
gclapper’s M3 Mix: Move to the S Fund
tmj100’s Mix: Move to the C Fund. (formerly known as Timboslice’s Mix)
Boltman’s Mix: Remain in the F Fund.
Sell in May and Go Away: Remain in the C Fund.
G All Year, S In Dec: Remain in the G Fund.
So it's not in any of the seasonal mixes.
My guess is people are panicking about Trump -- things look less than ideal. Markets haven't done too hotly since he took office. International has been doing pretty well this year so far.

Re: I Fund?
Some are moving into equities as a seasonality move and others as a timing move. Especially as the last day of the month, with a remaining IFT, given the four day hit to equities. Even a dead cat will bounce.
Re: I Fund?
I moved from I because I had a certain "bottom" that if it got to then to get out. With the international markets seeming to be reacting to everything going on with the politics, it's taking a dive...my opinion. I may hang in G in Feb as that is the seasonal profile I'm thinking of following, however, the more comfortable I get studying charts, it's always subject to change. Being in I at the beginning of the year...was truly a stroke of luck. I'm usually the one losing it.
I'm just making this up as I go along.

Re: I Fund?
I think the I found was introduced to the tsp in 2001. So if your looking for a seasonal mix using the I fund, this is what I have done.

It as introduced in 2001, however, data for EFA can be found going back to 1988 when the TSP was first started. Looking at it going back to that point might change your opinion of the I Fund a little.
For me, if I had to choose a single month to be in the I Fund, it would be April, hands down. But that's the only month I would consider.
See my thread for more info on how the I Fund performs going back to 1988 (linked in my signature). I think it's post #9.

Re: I Fund?
I got out on 1/12/17 because I figured that was the peak and a hard drop was in the lines. The plunge was arrested today (1/31/17) when the I fund paralleled right above the 20-day moving average (3mo time-period). When you pan out for a 5yr time period, there looks to be justification for a two year climb if the pattern stays the same as the last up/down cycle. As a short-timer, I'll be in and out several times in that span because I can't take the heat of a down trend. C was a close contender for my vote but it just didn't look meaty enough based on todays chart. In three days I might be saying, "shoulda followed Timboslice (head slowly shaking from side to side
" Happy hunting everyone!

Re: I Fund?
Some very interesting info on the I Fund can be found here:
http://www.fedweek.com/tsp/think-twice- ... tsps-fund/
Note that I'm actually not a supporter of the I Fund and so I find this webpage more informative than negative/positive in influencing my bias. Typically I have shied away from the I Fund, but as I've said numerous times, I have a good feeling about this year. Maybe the positive news about Japan or the fact that the UK is close to its trough (in my opinion) is that from here it can almost only go up...(were my famous last words).

I feel the same, cswift01. I'm liking I Fund this year and will look to be in and out of it throughout the year.

Re: I Fund?
I only see I fund doing better if the world banks maintain same or more QE. Be careful, it could be a rocky ride.

My feeling is the US will have a rocky ride, which is why I'm thinking to why the i might be better. Of course there are many other reasons. Rome wasn't destroyed in a day.
