I fund

Re: I fund
Also remember that the folks at the TSP do some "funky" things such as inputting dividends at odd times (after numerous requests, they still refuse to explain the minutiae of how they do this) AND Blackrock does some things to outperform the index...if possible.

Why I'm back in I-fund:

Re: I fund
Another reason I'm in I-fund. $43.6 billion?, as China keeps cashing in their bonds. They're preparing preparing for a long battle. I'm convinced there's no China deal coming any time soon. Also, how long can we afford to keep buying back our own bonds with our national debt?

Re: I fund
Yeah, the defense spending in Europe and Japan will be over the top given that the US will go more isolationist soon. So, the I Fund is likely the place to be for the next few years.jimcasada wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 12:00 pm Another reason I'm in I-fund. $43.6 billion?, as China keeps cashing in their bonds. I also agree there'll be not Chinese agreement any time soon. In fact, my best guess is that there'll be some kind of worse scenario at the end of Q2 or Q3. As always, I hope I'm wrong. I'm an eternal optimist.
Re: I fund
Currently it's about noon ET, and the I-fund chart on here is looking nearly 1/4% down, while the old $EFA is up about 1 1/4%. That's a difference of about 1 1/2%. Be interesting to see what actual result is at the end of today (as usually posted about 8pm ET).

Nice! 1.06% increase.jimcasada wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 11:52 am Currently it's about noon ET, and the I-fund chart on here is looking nearly 1/4% down, while the old $EFA is up about 1 1/4%. If I had bought and held the I Fund in January, i would have been up more than I am. Having said that, there's no way on earth I would have expected all of the mayhem to have hit the markets as they are. Hindsight always feels great...

Thanks Bubba, but I think I might be giving back most of it today. By the way, are you on the Fantasy? I can't find any Bubba on the list.

Re: I fund
Told myself I was getting out of the C-Fund and into something safer as soon as I got out of the red. Well that was today, so I’m splitting myself 50% G/ 50% I until all this non-sense in the market looks to be leveling out.
Good luck everyone.
Good luck everyone.

Re: I fund
I've been a bad participant and not updated my holdings.
What I'm doing overall is joining the market in surgical moments. I.e. in moments that I believe will be quite safe. So far I'm up a bit over 5% this year. Note that any time I mention something publicly, I lose it all so I'm now saying goodbye to that amount.
I'm only playing with up to 70% of my money because this year I believe we'll have the start of a big drop in the stock market. So, I'm trying to keep some in reserve.
The other thing I do with a much smaller amount is play leveraged funds in the MFW. I always create my own investment systems, but last year I made an Excel error and went into a fund at the wrong time and lost a bunch. I still ended up the year in green, but I could have ended it up by over 60% whereas it was much less. In any case, that one is fun this year too, although not as lucrative.
Re: I fund
This is a very good move. I'm doing something similar. There's too much inconsistency in the market right now. Add on top of that whatever the government is doing and I think it's just a powder keg waiting for the next fuse. For now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the TACO comment from yesterday won't blow up...but likely it will.

Re: I fund
Someone asked earlier. The I fund is listed as tracking the MSCI ACWI IMI ex USA ex China ex Hong Kong
Index. The only place I've been able to find that shows daily data on this index's performance is Yahoo Finance. I think it will show today and 5 days. How closely this correlates to the I Fund is not something I've spent too much time on. The ticker is ^753692-USD-STRD or here https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/%5E753692-USD-STRD/ .
Which got me to thinking about how dumb it is not to go to the source. So, I looked at MSCI's website and eventually found this: https://app2.msci.com/products/index-da ... ex&suite=C
